Rock to Recovery Benefit Concert

Rock to Recovery is a yearly benefit concert to help raise awareness and funds for guidance of participants becoming empowered to release their feelings into music they create - via songwriting, group performance, and recording they create bands with the participants, and each band creates its own song directly from their hearts. For this project we started with three theme ideas that funneled into one clear vision for the concert advertising and branding. Those three themes can be seen below.

Theme 1

From talking with the organizers of Rock to Recovery, for theme 1 I decided to aim for a punk rock vibe with heavy emphasis on old rock posters. I leaned into dot patterns for the main imagery with a grungy border as well as texture you would find on a poster. For the works I chose to have a very grungy healing typeface paired with a more readable secondary font for smaller copy. Lightning bolts, and bursts along with extended shadows allowed me to not have to worry about contrast between the text and any background color. was for the colors themselves I wanted to focus on warmer tones that I felt fit the punk rock vibe. This theme was chosen in the end and for the final round we changed the colors to be CMYK to “pop” more on social media.

Theme 2

For theme 2 I focused on a tattoo parlor vibe and utilizing the wings that are also in the Rock to Recovery logomark. I focused on a bursting background of blue and red paired with a foreground frame that would contain all of the information. This was a cleaner theme without a lot of the grunge from the first these but had big bold text that would draw the viewer in. For added Depth a halftone circular dot pattern sits in-between the foreground and background. If any imagery was used, a gradient map using the background blue and red colors would be used to bring any photography into the same realm as the rest of the theme.

Theme 3

The third theme brings back in some of the grunge elements and introduces some tape and paper textures. These are mainly used for border elements to add contrast to and piece. The Logos would be contain within a triangle sticker to continue the grungy paper theme. Red, Black, and White are all used to reflect how big and bold “rock n roll” can be. The Rock 2 Recovery word mark uses a rough typeface overlayed on the number that could theoretically be changed yearly. A grunge texture overlays the whole design to tie everything together.

Final Theme

In the end we chose the first theme with a slight tweak of the colors. We changed the red and orange to a CMYK color palate. This still fit in with the punk rock vibe and the client loved how it looked with these colors. I ended up creating, social media assets, digital and print advertisements, motion graphics, signage at the event, and other promotional posts using this final theme which can all be seen below.

AEW Social Media Templates

Starting in late 2019, I assisted in creating some templates and designs for the partnership between STN Digital and newly formed AEW on TNT. These templates were designed to be easily editable for multiple occasions and for multiple teams across all social platforms as well as incorporating the bright splashes of color into the templates while the hero graphics got their own individual styles separate from the brand. Showcased below are the templates I created as well as some that were posted to their social media channels based on my template.

I was then asked by STN Digital to help create new templates when AEW on TNT switched to the “Boundless” theme for their branding. I recreated some templates for quotes, wrestler of the week, breaking news, and also some engagement posts. These needed to incorporate new branding across them including large bracketing, new typography, and two separate color stylings.

As a fun engagement campaign, AEW on TNT needed templates created for some polls they were running on social media. The polls revolved around “A Christmas Story” and which wrestlers would you cast as specific characters. These were fun to incorporate some of the “Boundless” branding as well as some Christmas thematic elements.

AEW on TNT “Hero Imagery”

Starting in late 2019, I assisted in creating some designs for the partnership between STN Digital and newly formed AEW on TNT. These “Hero Graphics” were created to focus attention on specific athletes or storylines that occurred during the AEW wrestling season. These designs needed to follow the grittiness of AEW on TNT as well as showcase the drama within AEW on TNT.

Some of the designs were more simplistic compositions, “Champions”, “Wild Things”, and “Mike Tyson”, where other required some further photoshop manipulating to really sell the realism of the graphic. Those would include the “Sting”, “Arcade Anarchy” and the “Barbed Wire Chair” designs. Those designs required a focus on lighting and photo manipulating to showcase what the client needed and I was thrilled with what I was able to provide as a final design. Enjoy!

Manchester City FC Wallpapers

Starting in 2019 I was commissioned by Manchester City Football Club to create some wallpapers for their weekly #WallpaperWednesday posts. This was the first time working with exclusively soccer related imagery so I wanted to make sure to utilize the many movements you find in the game. These wallpapers were posted over several months in combination with other talented designers around the world.

Sports On Prime

While working with STN Digital, I have helped designing for several campaigns for the Sports on Prime social media page. These design tasks range from creating for “Baby Goat Week”, Milestones, “Giants of the Game”, and celebrating certain players birthdays. Some of these designs focused on heavier photo manipulating, like Adam Vinatieri crossing the Delaware River when he retired and making Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady “Giants of the Game” when they faced off in the NFL Playoffs. Other designs were more compositionally heavy, like when Coach K failed to reach the NCAA Tournament, and Jackie Robinson, Tyrann Matheiu, and Christian McCaffrey’s Birthday graphics. Overall I enjoy the wide range of tasks that Sports on Prime always has based on the variety of content they post to their channels.

I also included Jersey Swaps I created for them below the social graphics. Some of these were needed asap as the player’s trades were announced and others were done to speculate who would win if teams swapped quarterbacks.

Indiana Pacers

In my continued working with STN Digital, I was tasked to create several graphics for the Indiana Pacers for their 2020-2021 season. These graphics mainly included some milestone designs that demanded a quick turnaround as well as some “sports cards” for a schedule release video that was posted to their social media pages. Three different cards were designed depending on the type of matchup, with a “golden” design for the premium games. I have displayed these cards in top loaders from a mock up pack I have available in my shop.

Roc Nation

While working with STN Digital, I had the opportunity to create several graphics for RocNation Sports. These ranged from awards given to some of their clients, jersey swapping Dez Bryant into a Ravens uniform and making a manipulation from it, and welcoming players to the RocNation family. These allowed me to include some typography within the designs due to the informative nature of the designs mores than simple photo manipulations.

Nascar Championship

While working with STN Digital, I had the opportunity to create some graphics honoring the 2020 Nascar season Champion. I wanted to make sure these were eye catching so I made sure to included some 3d text paired with the trophy given to the winner. This year pitted Brand Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott against eachother in the final race of the season. Chase Elliott was the winner but I’m sure fans of the other racers would enjoy seeing the alternate realities where these other designs would have been used.

Chicago Bears

As a die-hard Chicago Bears fan I was extremely happy for the opportunity to collaborate with the Bears in 2018 for a hype graphic for the Bears v Vikings game that year. They reached out to see about me making a design based around a bear destroying a viking ship in Lake Michigan and the result was posted when the Bears defeated the Vikings that Sunday night.

Later on, starting in 2019, I assisted STN Digital in creating some high impact designs for the Bears for their social media channels. These designs revolved around matchup photo manipulations similar to the Vikings graphic I created in 2018. Two of these set were based on the playing the Saints, with Akiem Hicks being turned into a “Witch Doctor”, and a "Voodoo Bear". These were posted before the respected games in order to get fans excited about the matchup.

Some of the other designs align with the special game day circumstances, the Bears playing on Nickelodeon and the Bears playing in London. For those designs I was tasked with mimicking old Nickelodeon TV show posters and turning Coach Matt Nagy into a “Premier League Soccer" Coach, with more “posh” stylings.

Social Media Designs

This is a selection of graphics I designed through STN Digital for the Green Bay Packers in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Some of these were done live during the games and some were celebratory designs done either before or after the games to hype up the fanbase.

“BIG PLAY” GRAPHICS

These are “Big Play” graphics I created for the Packers to post when something “huge” happens in a game. This varied from field goals to fumble recoveries. I had to keep in mind that these designs would be passed off to a motion designer and could only incorporate text along with the design elements from the Packers 2022 season branding. These were a fun challenge to make these all different, while using the same elements, and allowing for them to be easily edited to add motion.

Social Media Templates

STN Digital reached out to me to take on creating some templates for the Green Bay Packers for the 2022 Season. These graphics needed to match the branding for the 2022 season and had to be easily editable for other graphic designers to use since I would not be the one editing them each week. These designs used a lot of color splashes as well as x and o patterns based around the branding.

Green Bay Packers NFL Top 100 2020

I was approached by STN Digital to assist in creating graphics for the Green Bay Packers to honor their 6 players who are on the NFL Top 100 list. This list is voted on by the players and is a yearly honor to be included.

This year six players were honored including Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, Davante Adams, David Bakhtiari, Preston Smith, and Za’Darius Smith. These graphics needed to match the specific branding for the season that the Packers were using. I opted to make the backgrounds bright yellow so they would contrast with the green that usually dominated their timeline. This would ensure that they would be easy to spot while scrolling aimlessly on their feed. I also wanted to make sure the ranking was dominant in the graphics so I placed each player in front of the large number of their rankings.

These graphics were posted on the Packers social media pages which garnered 376,800+ likes and 3,400+ comments on Instagram and 19,500+ Likes and +3,250 retweets on Twitter.

Kentucky Men’s Basketball “PE” shoes

I was approached by the Kentucky Men’s Basketball social team to create a custom design to highlight their “Player Exclusive” Nike shoes for the 2019-2020 season.

They gave me carte blanche for the theme of the design and from some found inspiration, we came to an agreement on a “space” theme. I wanted to make this a carousel & grid design that the viewer could swipe through as an intended way to view the graphic.

I created an Instagram carousel as well as a design for twitter that matched together in a grid when viewed in the native viewer, but when you clicked on each individual graphic, each design had smaller details to be seen.
